🎬 BVS_FirstPersonTemplate
A lightweight, efficient, and community-driven starter kit crafted from scratch by an independent studio for Unity developers.
We are building this project to provide a pristine foundation for creators who want to jump straight into game design without getting bogged down in repetitive technical setup or complex C# coding.
🛠️ Project Status: In Development
This template is currently under active development. We are building this as we go, refining the core architecture, and adding features to guarantee a buttery-smooth workflow. We are sharing it now so you can build alongside us or use this robust foundation for your own indie titles!
🚀 The Purpose Of This Template
Our indie development journey has been a constant search for the perfect balance between engine power and strict hardware constraints. Working across various Linux distributions with both Unreal Engine and Unity, we noticed a clear dilemma: while Unreal is exceptionally powerful, it consumes an overwhelming amount of disk space. Conversely, setting up a fresh Unity project from absolute scratch—especially configuring Visual Scripting workflows—is incredibly time-consuming.
We wanted a "clean start" that brilliantly combines the intuitive, user-friendly logic of Unreal’s Blueprints with the raw efficiency and lightness of Unity. So, we built this template for ourselves—and we are sharing it so fellow indie developers can benefit from it, too!
⚙️ What's Included (Work in Progress)
- Visual Scripting Setup: Fully configured, out-of-the-box Visual Scripting logic handling smooth player movement and raw input.
- Ready-to-Use Animations: Pre-configured Idle and Run animation states driven by a custom node system.
- Atmospheric Base: A gorgeous pre-set scene equipped with custom lighting, volumetric clouds, and advanced post-processing (featuring ACES Tonemapping and Bloom) to make your environments pop instantly.
- Clean Folder Structure: A professionally organized directory hierarchy, meticulously designed to keep your project files clean and manageable as your game grows.
🎯 Perfect For You If...
- You strongly prefer visual scripting over writing raw C# code.
- You are an indie developer looking to optimize your production workflow and save precious hours.
- You value your time and want 100% of your energy focused on pure game design rather than tedious engine configuration.
📝 Technical Requirements
- Unity Version: Developed and strictly tested on Unity 6.3 LTS. (Likely compatible with other recent LTS versions such as 2022.3 LTS or newer).
- Visual Scripting: Relies entirely on Unity's robust built-in Visual Scripting system (formerly Bolt).
🗺️ Roadmap: The Journey To 1.0.0
- Build 0.1.0 (Completed) — Basic Player Movement and Initial Scene Setup.
- Build 0.1.1 (Completed) — Fixed and Balanced Gravity Systems.
- Build 0.1.2 (Completed) — Physics Push System: Seamless, immersive interaction with Rigidbody objects and dynamic props.
- Build 0.1.3-hotfix (Completed) — Fixed Camera Near.
